St Mary's School Ascot

Berkshire

Overview

Set in the heart of Berkshire, St Mary's School Ascot is a leading independent Roman Catholic boarding school for girls aged between 11 and 18.

Pastoral care is a high priority to the school and with the majority of the pupils boarding full time, mealtimes are an important time of each day. The schools catering team ensures the girls have an exceptionally high standard of cuisine with an emphasis on healthy eating.

The main scope of the project was to create an extension to the pupil dining room increasing it from 228m2 to 457m2. Works further included the refurbishment of the main pupil dining room and the separate staff dining room with the installation of a new servery, ceiling, lighting, floor coverings and furniture in each room. There was also remodelling of the outside area creating a new terrace, BBQ and patio areas.

There were some alteration works to the existing kitchen block, wash up and pot wash areas along with associated external landscaping.

At first floor level a new external door now leads to a roof level escape route via a new spiral escape stair to replace the old internal fire escape which was removed as part of the remodel.
