Building on Excellence

Bradfield College Greek Theatre

Reading

Overview

Bradfield College is a large independent school located in Bradfield Berkshire. It was founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens and now enjoys a well-established reputation for being one of the country's leading co-educational independent schools.

In the heart of the College grounds lies the Greek Theatre (affectionately known as Greeker) which was created originally from an old disused chalk pit. The theatre ran for years until modern safety and access requirements dictated its closure.

In 2013, we were awarded the project to refurbish, repair and adapt the existing Greek Theatre following site clearance and removal of minor structures.

The additional construction of a new performance space (Orkestra), stage area, theatre shed (Skene), viewing platform (Agora) and control room were also incorporated into the project.

In May 2014 the theatre was officially re-opened to a packed house.
